NHS - Swindon Reducing Emergency Admissions for COPD Patients with Telehealth Technology

Telehealth has helped to significantly improved the model of care for COPD patients in Swindon. Clinical staff have round-the-clock access to accurate information about the patient’s conditions ensuring more preventative care and reducing the need for hospital admissions.

Early analysis demonstrated ONE emergency admission per patient SAVED over 6 months

The film shows Mrs Carter who suffers from COPD, using the Tunstall RTX telehealth equipment to monitor her vital signs, health and well-being. Mrs Carter said “Since I have had telehealth I have not had to go to hospital or visit out patient services….. I feel safe; telehealth is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

The early success of Swindon’s telehealth pilot project has reinforced their intention to achieve their target roll out of 250 telehealth monitors.
