Tunstall and telecare features on BBC Panorama

Tunstall and telecare benefited from some fantastic national publicity on Monday 24 August, as the BBC's Panorama programme "Gimme Shelter" highlighted Tunstall's technology at the Nottingham Community Housing Association newly refurbished smart flat.

The programme centred on the issue that services provided by live-in wardens are being taken away by many local authorities and replaced with floating support and technology.

Tunstall's Alison Williams confidently demonstrated how assistive technology and telecare goes hand in hand with warden services and by no means replaces them. She demonstrated the bed sensor, fall detector, temperature extremes sensor and placed a call with the Response Centre at Nottingham.

John Bartle at Nottingham Community Housing Association when asked - is this technology smarter and more useful than the average warden - went on to say "No, it's a mixture of the two. I don't accept the argument that you can have one without the other."

The telecare section is shown from 21.48 minutes to 23.03 minutes - http://bbc.co.uk/i/mbvn3/?t=21m43s
